Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She is the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington has worked as an actor, journalist as well as a television philanthropist, author and TV philanthro for a decade. Her role also includes being the owner of The Huffington Post, an free-of-cost online newsmagazine. Born in Greece she came to England at the age of 16 after which she graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she was president of the well-known debating group The Cambridge Union' and was the very first foreign student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. In the years following after her college graduation, she became an important conservative syndicated journalist. In the years later, she started The Huffington Post which featured an unbiased critique of the political scene. It was her celebrity that led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors to post their perspectives on news, politics and the arts. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 after she decided to run as an independent candidate in the California recall election to replace the Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of an Detroit initiative to make cars more fuel efficient. In 2009, she was acclaimed by Forbes as one of the top female media personality, taking the 12th position in the listing and the following year Guardian named her to the top 100 of the media lists. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she became president of the media company. It included a variety of AOL properties at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant as well as a journalist. She was extremely close to her father. But it is her bond with her mother that shaped her. Her leadership skills were evident at an early age. At 16 years of age she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. At the time of her studies, she belonged to Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female president and only foreign president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics. Following after graduation she became columnist and TV presenter. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She began to write books with his guidance in editing.
